Our visit to Perini Ranch Steakhouse—along with an overnight stay at the Perini Guest House—was nothing short of unforgettable. Both the dining experience and the accommodations exceeded every expectation. The steakhouse itself delivers on its legendary reputation. The atmosphere is warm, rustic, and full of character, with a sense of authenticity that perfectly matches the Texas charm. The food was phenomenal—cooked to perfection and bursting with rich, robust flavors. Every bite felt like a celebration of what a true steakhouse should be. The service was attentive, genuine, and seamless throughout the evening. After dinner, staying at the Perini Guest House made the entire experience feel even more special. The accommodations were beautifully appointed—inviting, comfortable, and thoughtfully curated with those small details that make a big difference. It was peaceful, private, and the perfect complement to an already incredible night. Perini’s is a destination in every sense of the word—and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Party of 4, total for the meal was 442, and renting both guest houses was 660 for one night.
The BEST steak we have ever had in our lives and will probably ever have. Simply incredible flavours and the most perfect tender steak. Our server Austin was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable making sure our meal was perfect. We were also lucky enough to stop and chat with the Perini family who are so welcoming. The building has so much charm and character and is the perfect place to go for a great meal to remember. Thank you so much guys, we will talk about this steak for years to come back home in England!
Where’s a good place to get a steak near Abilene? A working cattle ranch in Buffalo Gap. Outstanding service and the steak was as well. Thankfully we had reservations on a day where the wind wasn’t blowing too hard as we were seated outside at picnic tables (we had a large group). Definitely make reservations, though, the place was packed the evening we were there. Had the Jalapeno Cheesecake for dessert...had a jalapeno glaze on top...interesting but very good.
Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had so far in Abilene. From the moment we arrived, the warm, rustic charm of the setting and the impeccable service set the tone for an exceptional evening. The star of the show? The steaks. We ordered both the ribeye and bone-in ribeye, and they were nothing short of outstanding, cooked to a perfect medium rare, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. These steaks needed no sauce, seasoning, or garnish; they stood proudly on their own. The prime rib was equally impressive, juicy, rich, and beautifully pink throughout. The sides elevated the meal even further. The asparagus was fresh and well-seasoned, and the red skin potatoes were perfectly fork-tender with a delightful garlicky note. However, the standout was the poblano pepper mac & cheese. Creamy, gooey, and with just the right amount of kick, it was easily the best side dish on the table. For dessert, we sampled three options. The jalapeno cheesecake was a surprisingly delightful blend of rich and savory, while the Perini Ranch bread pudding was a decadent and satisfying finish to the meal. The strawberry shortcake was the only item that didn't quite hit the mark for us. We also tried a trio of drinks: the Mesquite-a-Rita, the Prickly Pear Mesquite-a-Rita, and the Bourbon Peach Tea, all creative, refreshing, and perfectly paired with the bold flavors of the food. Service was exceptional from start to finish. Our server was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure every detail was taken care of without being overbearing. While the prices are on the higher end, the quality, care, and authentic Texas experience more than justify the cost. Perini Ranch isn’t just a meal, it’s a destination, and one well worth the trip.
Probably the best meal I've ever had!!! Arrived at 4:00 in the evening. They don't open till 5:00- but Melissa made sure we had one of the best seats in the house... Having got the prime rib rare it was perfect. I got the fillet medium rare. It was beyond perfect.. Save room for the bread pudding!!! Didn't take a picture of anything. I just started eating!!!
It's a must not miss experience if you are visiting the area. Great Texas staples served perfectly. Extremely friendly and efficient staff. Sadly I only took one photo. Of my fried quail appetizer. Got the pork chop which was cooked to perfection and Perini zucchini. My date got the filet which she enjoyed very much.
MUST VISIT!!! Dined in on a quiet Sunday evening at sunset. Beautiful grounds in the lovely quaint area of Buffalo Gap. Upscale rustic dining. Very friendly staff. Bathrooms were clean. Fire in the fireplace was cozy and welcoming. It was our first time to visit and we were grateful for our waitress’s advice. We split a 32oz Porterhouse that was grilled to perfection. The salad, rolls and green chile hominy were fabulous. Atmosphere was casual and relaxed. Outdoor areas were beautiful and can only imagine the wonderful outdoor events that are held here! Worth the drive. Several neighboring diners were from out of town visiting for the first time thanks to the reputation of the steaks. Don’t miss this gem if you’re anywhere near Abilene, TX!
The place is super cozy and welcoming, with a rustic feel that makes the whole meal even better. If you love steak or just want some good food, Perini Ranch is awesome. Definitely check it out!
